PROTCF
Production technique for transparent, conducting, and structured substrates based on nano-scaled Indium Tin Oxide (ITO)
PROTCF´s goal is to develop a process and a prototype facility for the production of transparent, conducting, and structured substrates based on nano-scaled indium-tin-oxide (ITO) on an industrial scale. The following properties are addressed: transmission > 80 %, sheet resistance < 2 k?/sq, tact time: 10 m/min (at 60 cm wide substrates), resolution: 150 ?m.
We are validating these transparent conductors for applications like (i) lighting modules based on electroluminescence and OLEDs and (ii) low-information-content displays as used in hand calculaters and electronic price tags using LCDs.
The project work is focused on the formulation of optimized ITO printing-inks, on inkjet, flexo, and screen printing, on laser post-treatment of the layers, and on the conception of a prototype line.
This research and development project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) within the Framework Concept "Research for Tomorrow's Production" and managed by the Project Management Agency Karlsruhe (PTKA).
